Loaded some music onto a 32GB class 10 miniSD card and installed it on my Nav 5 with the latest firmware. The device connects to my phone for Smartlink just fine and connects to my Cardo Scala Q3 just fine and plays music just fine - mostly. However, sometimes when I switch on my Cardo, the following day for example, it connects automatically as expected but when I go to play music it doesn't play properly, it's like it's corrupted, it sort of jumps or skips with no sound but the bar on the Nav 5 Media Player App shows the track as 'playing'. It will sometimes even does this at random times during the ride. Now if I disconnect the Cardo and then reconnect it works fine.

Seems like it's dropping connection. The Cardo is fully charged too BTW. Has anyone else had the same problem? I'll reset the Cardo and make the pairing afresh to see if that helps before I contact Cardo Customer Support.

I have this problem although I use the Scala Q1. It doesn't do it as often as it used to; it used to really annoy me but now I just turn q1 off and on again and it works.

The biggest fault that really pi55ed me off was that occasionally the Nav5 would simply not recognise that there was any music installed; and at the start of a long ride that could be very irksome as I'd have to remove the battery of the Nav5 for it to work again. However this does seem to have been addressed with the latest update.

I've had that exact problem with my Nav V and my Scala Rider G9X.

I've been talking with Garmin for 2 years regarding this problem. They even sent me a replacement Nav V but the problem was still there.

My last communication with them was when they asked me to set up my Nav V to record Bluetooth and then send them the created file. I didn't even respond to them as I've done that twice so far.

I've told them, on a previous occasion, that I am not their guinea pig and to sort their shit out. In the meantime, I connect my G9X to my mobile for music. That works fine and sound is of a much better quality.

When I approached Cardo about the problem they informed me that it was a Garmin problem, not theirs.

Garmin support is completely useless to say the least. Their engineering dept have been "reviewing" my bluetooth logs files for over 7 months.

Little different problem than this though. With my Scala G9x or Packtalk I will be in the middle of a call with someone and all of a sudden I start hearing my voice echoed back and nothing else.

Super annoying!

I have that during most phone calls, not too much of a problem as I don't make many calls but it is very annoying when I do. One second having a conversation then next min you just her yourself.

The person on the other end doesn't know what's happening and either it'll work again or they hang up.

Would you mind telling me what phone and headset you use? Of course when you call Garmin they have never heard of it. BMW claim the same thing as well.

I have that problem as well. When I informed Garmin UK about this problem I was told that I was the only user to have that problem! Garmin are a shite company to deal with.

I've tried 3 different bluetooth headsets and 4 different phones. What really pisses me off is I want to disable the phone function and just use the phone for data only I get these constant reconnects.

I also have a S1000R and bought a Tomtom Rider 400 to use with it.

I'm very tempted to get myself a Tomtom. They can't be as bad as Garmin. I've used Garmin for about 8 years now and had a lot of grief.

Garmin are ok for the newbie that doesn't know what to expect (oooh look at the pretty colours) but if you use all the bells and whistles then all hell breaks out.

I've got Scala Q1 and an iPhone 5 at the moment. It happens pretty much every call.

I did think it seemed to happen when you would expect the Nav to be transmitting directions (approaching junctions etc) as it would happen very regularly; but I've found it still does it occasionally when no destination is entered.

Mine doesnt seem to follow any patterns at all and clearly Garmin must know about it. All my phones are Android but interesting to hear it happens with iOS too.

I'm quite happy with it so far.

Looks like I'm not alone in having a problem of one sort or another... not reset anything yet but it did it again this morning on the way to work. Switching of the Cardo on and off didn't work. I had to disconnect and reconnect. I noticed when it wouldn't work that the smartphone link was not highlighted but when it did work the smartphone link was highlighted. I wonder whether this might have something to do with it?

Not my image, it's from GlobeRiders, but it shows the highlighted smartphone link.

Interestingly the GlobeRiders website above does suggest that "The recommended Pairing Order is to pair your phone first and then your Headset." So perhaps a reset and repairing might sort it... we'll see.

I have a Nav V, an iPhone 6 and a Sena 20s set up. Never had any problems. Works great!

You pair the iphone to the Nav V

The Nav V is paired to the Sena headset as a "phone" (as per Sena's installation instructions). And it all works as described

I have dropped the troublesome unreliable "Schubeth integrated SRC" ...moved to the fantastic Sena 20s and , as Paul describes here (paired as he states) ...works 100%.

100% agree with Stuart re the schuberth SRC system....it's advertised as radio too...total rubbish. Schuberths answer when calling them is "well you can't expect a good reception from a small radio ". they don't say that on the sales pitch....all you get is interference....

Thanks John, it's always a disappointment when you buy the most expensive product in the market; and it fails!

For those who haven't purchased a BT set yet; ....my experience with Sena 20S is very positive. Great battery life, good solid sound, good fitting kit, nice FM radio and most importantly- pairs easily with riding buddies.

(Maybe because I'm getting old?) ... i don't always remember all the functions/operating instructions, its not that intuitive ( designed by a 16 year old?) so I do have to keep a laminated card in my tank bag .

You make lots of calls? I would say I have issues with calls 50% of the time

I have the issue with the smartlink not being highlighted nearly every time I ride. If I go into the setting for the phone in the Nav V and turn it off then on again it usually comes back.
