Problem updating iPhone software

back from hound duty and downloading right now :)

andres: can you get the app store?

oooooooooooooooooooh nooooooooooooooooooooooo

update failed. unknown error. iphone dead in the water :(

oh dear. phone not recognised by itunes after reset.

two attempts later, and it seems to be restoring to previous firmware. appears to be a mac issue, not the phone.

it's restarting now :)

edit: emergency call only :(

edit edit: i think it needs to contact apple and the server's fecked with traffic.

Hmmm, I have the 3.0 update installed, and I am a little underwhelmed. I'm sure it'll all come in useful over the coming weeks, but nothing jumps out at me as "cool" so far. The biggest thing I am hoping is that the modem firmware upgrade improves the 3G speed and means that my phone doesn't die for a 4th time (3 modem failures so far!)

.....looks like Apple's activation server has gone down - whatever that is.

Anybody managed to send a photo via mms? I keep getting a failed.

shittttttttttttttttttt

Well, sorted at last using a different 'puter - thanks Thunder! And, yes Cookie, my 'puter does access the iTunes store but still says Im not connected when it comes to updates

Mmmmmm........If I knew how to play with my 'proxy' settings I might be tempted to have a go at that 'fix'. I think I need to do a bit of research and learn up on it - thanks Cookie :)

Well, SWMBO (Catherine) updated her iphone last night. Then all her contact info and calendar info disappeared, and the phone said she'd lost her connection to O2... (she hadn't, because she managed to send me a text)

She's now in the process of contacting O2 since that's where she thinks the problem lies. Since she's pretty IT-savvy anyway, I suspect she's on the right track, but I'm happy with my new Nokia 5800... :D

i've seen quite a few reports on the net of iphones borked while updating. they nearly all seem to respond to a Restore and then Sync though.

I just know that I'm tempting fate here but mine seems to have updated without any problem.

:roll
