Problem with rear brake / ABS

So. Not good news. Apparently it is the ABS modular that is faulty, a snip at £1200 + £300 labour o.n.o.

The dealer put an automated request for a goodwill part swap but this was rejected by the system because the bike is a few months overdue (timewise) for a service - even though I had been advised by a Motorrad dealer that it should be OK to delay and get my 12,000 mile inspection at the same time.

Anyway, the dealer is going to try for a manual goodwill request so I have fingers crossed that this is successful!

No bike for a few days then - might get it back at the weekend, best case. Have to wheel out the bicycle again - suppose I should get fitter (the only upside I can see).

Got the bike back with a new ABS modulator fitted. The servo(s) sound a bit different to me, but the fault hasn't come back so far.

Anyway, the good news that the dealer (Jackson's, in Jersey) managed to persuade BMW that I should get some goodwill - which they have done. So, I get the part for nowt but pay for the labour.
Given the bike is out of warranty I think this is a fair deal. The part will be guaranteed for 2 years, which for some reason wouldn't have been the case if BMW had paid for everything.

Now I just need to rethink getting extended warranty... goodwill can't last forever.

Congratulations ! I think you're right, this probably is the best you could get.:thumb
It remains ridiculous, though, that BMW bikers should face this kind of failure, and subsequent costs...:(
All the best !
