Hiya,
I'm back for some more... I had an ignition problem on my R65GS a couple of months ago and sorted it out thanks to the airheads' wisdom. The bike would stop when warm, it was caused by a dodgy bean can that I replaced by a second hand one. The bike has been running beautifully since and I did a 2500kms trip in France without trouble.
It started playing up again about a week ago. The bike is running low and just stops when I go down gears, power cut... It back fires and start again then stops. Not exactly the same symptoms has before, the bike is not warm when it happens and it seems to be intermitant. Took it to my local mecanic where the carbs were cleaned and balanced (they were way off according to him). The guy tried it and nothing, running fine. I pick it up, do a couple of miles and here we go again, no juice, Bang! it back fires, starts again then stops:mcgun...maybe it's just me... I checked all wires and connections, changed the spark plugs (I get sparks on both). It's going back to the mecanic on monday but could it be the the ignition playing up again? Any ideas?
Thanks
Vincent

ign probs

my 100gs had a similar problem , it would backfire then cut out ,it was the ign switch . if i jiggled the key while it was still rolling it would start again . worth trying .
