Must be something to do with hitting 90k, but after having had no problems before then, final drive seal failed (replaced thanks to Steptoe's photographic guide); gearlever seized (fixed thanks to replies on this forum) and now have third problem.

Bike (2001 1150GS) was running well last week (when rode it over 1000 miles in 24 hours) but today started fine, but as soon as I put it in gear, bike started creeping forward and then stalled - clutch lever also felt slack. Not had time to look at it today - cannot see any fluid anywhere but assume I must have clutch fluid leaking somewhere?

Check the fluid level in the master cylinder as the fluid is probably leaking from the slave cylinder along the clutch pushrod and onto the clutch. If you catch it in time you may well be lucky and not need a new clutch.

Edit. I think Steptoe did a how to thread on it in this section.

Thanks - I did try and search for information but there are so many threads on clutch and not sure what to start looking for - shall check fluid this morning and hope clutch has not been affected!

Sounds like slave cylinder, the slave cylinder can be replaced without stripping the rear end, but they were in short supply a month or two ago  Happy mothers day (i know its not in UK) but it is here:D

It's most likely to be the small ali sealing washers on the lines at the slave banjos that have corroded and are now leaking.

I shouldn't be at all surprised to find that you are of course correct - leaking from the seal between the slave cylinder and the line to the bleed valve.

Am I right in thinking that I need to undo and pull out clutch slave cylinder to be able to undo bnjos and after replacing washers and bolts, can just push cylinder back in (with new washer)?
Thanks for the help, desperately need bike together for 36 hour Brit Butt Rally weekend after next!

Got all apart yesterday, found using a very long allen key and taking both clutch pipes off meant only had to remove rear wheel, shock, and tank to get it out.
When I got slave cylinder out, there was fluid the other side of it - I am thinking this is not a good thing and not supposed to be there so means slave cylinder needs replacing? Would be grateful if someone knowledgeable could confirm this for me :beerjug:

I would say yes, but am not knowledgeable compared to many here, what colour was your brake fluid?

Looks like clutch pipe is leaking at slave cylinder end - ordered new clutch pipe from http://www.probrake.de/

Probrake are good people to deal with.

They also do the clutch breather pipe if you need one, although it has a simple bleeder nipple on the end instead of the strange original nipple in the black plastic casing which always seizes.

When I got mine last year both lines combined were cheaper that either of the original parts

Thanks for the help. My fluid was nothing like those photos Pekavee, so hoping have saved clutch. Got both pipes from Probrake, very impressed with their service and quality of products so can endorse your recommendation Mike. Also replaced slave cylinder, again impressed with Sherlocks, ordered at 4pm and arrived next morning.

Hopefully al right with bike now, just in time for its 36 hour run in the Brit Butt Rally this weekend
