Problems or no problems that is the question

I got my GSA in April 2014 and it has only done 7.5k miles - it is a great bike, but had the centre stand replaced due to corrosion after 8 months. Now I am seeing bubbles appearing all around the edges on the black painted areas on the engine and the painted grey cam covers where it has just appeared in the centre and around the oil filler cap, some of these bubbles have now cracked, possibly allowing the ingress of water to exacerbate the problem. It is hardly used in the winter and washed, cleaned and dried where it then sits in a very dry and well ventilated garage. BMW should bow their heads in shame at this really. :blast

Problems ..
I'm a miserable bartsard , I makes me smile , so not happy .
I don't like handling , it handles , so not happy .
I don't like comfort , it's comfy , so not happy.
I don't like good looking bikes , it's geogeous , so not happy .
It clunks into first , now I like that .
I hate speed , it's quick , so not happy.
Gear shift pro , works like a pro ,happy with that .
So with all this disappointment , I'm still not happy

The bike is great, but a looker it ain't.

I'd like to thank all of you that suffered for those of us who have never previously owned a 1200 GS but are going to very soon in your thorough beta testing and proving the machine for BMW so that we can enjoy fault free ownership :-)

Having ridden earlier variants of the GS I was happy with my F800 & Multistrada combo, but for reasons of space I decided to re-visit the possibility of owning a GSA. Hopefully BMW have resolved the issues that manifested themselves on the earlier versions, so my 2016 R1200GSA TE is completely sorted.

I should also say that owning a late Ducati MTS1200S has been a joy as earlier owners endured many issues, the F800 still has issues with the head race bearing.

Three weeks ago I traded my 2013 K1600 Gt for a 2015 GSA TE, this being my fourth BMW. So far, no complaints or problems in the 600 miles or so that I have done. I'm more than happy although the two bikes are very different and I do miss the torque and flexibility of the 6 cylinder.

Comfort, performance, ease of riding and appearance are all great and I look forward to a long and happy relationship. Whilst the bike has 16 months warranty left, I will definitely pay for the extended warranty having needed it soon each of my three previous bikes. Pay monthly and it doesn't seem so costly

Main stand replaced under warranty as the paint started to strip on it after less than 1k miles.

Faulty keyless fuel cap replaced under warranty as it was impossible to open.... Just gone again, so back to the dealers next week.

2k miles on my 2016 triple black, the only issue has been sat nav holder replaced as the lock was difficult to operate, done while I waited no quibbles at benhams of Wolverhampton.best bike so far and I've lost count of how many I've owned over the last 35 years

March 2015. GSA TE. Posted earlier in this thread with no issues. This week had the GSAP replaced as the original had stopped working. Dealer said its a first ?
Also, the SAT NAV control wheel didnt work. But seemed to be OK after a bit of a whack .... 6000 mile service next month.
Love it.

2013 lowered, 10,790miles.
Star cracks under the screen fittings replaced under warranty,
faultless on anything else, now sitting in oceans up for sale with an extended warranty.
If not sold by the time im home in march, I will carry on with it.

2012 F650GS 12,000 miles no problems
2013 F800GS. 11,000 miles no problems
2016 R1200GS 2,500 ,miles no problems,

Delighted with the reliability and main dealer servicing.

2014LC 16000 miles to Arctic Circle and Russia
2 windscreens due to cracking
New fuel cap
3 sets of fog lamps/wiring

Great dealer, best bike in the World

2014 1200GS LC TE 10985 miles

3rd engine (paint problem)
2nd rear drive (paint problem)
2nd swing arm (paint problem)
2nd ESA shock (rust problem)
2nd exhaust (rust problem)

I have yet to have a 6000 mile service :-) currently running in the 3rd engine.

1st visit to dealers, had someone who I got the impression they couldn't give a rats about getting the problems sorted. 6 months later, 2nd visit dealer made sure everything was all done and dusted within 10 days :-)

Still want the GS though.

April 2013 TE

Coming up for three years old,no problems so far but does crunch a bit into first when cold and clutch drags a bit when hot. Other than that been brill.Been to Germany twice and all over Scotland 9000 miles.

No Probs

11,000 miles, daily commuter, trips to Wales, Dorset and Switzerland -Nov 2013 GSTE...just swapped for XR...Up for sale at Bstormer Alton at the mo. Cracking bike.
Only reason I got rid of is that it's too similar in function to my RT...XR adds a smidge of sauce for the weekend!

Iv had 2 lc, a 15 which I did 10k miles faultless, except it was stolen.
Now I have a 13, done 3k miles, also faultless.

Only difference is the grips were better in the 15 by far...

2014 GSA TE - 11,000 miles and no major problems.

I had a new near side foot peg changed under warranty - corroded badly and looked like it was made of old tin cans - and there's a hint of misting in the clocks that I noticed last week when I was out for a short run. It's due it's two yearly/12,000 mile service in the coming weeks so I'll get my local dealer to sort it out (appears there's a few that have the misting issue on here).

Love the GSA, it's my fifth (2000 - 1150, 2005 - 1200, 2006 - 1200 GSA, 2010 - 1200GSA) and can't see it being sold any time soon.
