After getting the wee motor out of the frame earlier in the week, No.1 son assisted in lifting it onto the bench before buggering off down the pub.
So this affie, I started spannering and socketing!

The head came off without too much drama! I managed to snap off one of the bolts in the caps that hold the camshaft down :blast

Getting to the pistons was interesting. I've included 2 shots of the tops of 2 of the pistons. One is caked in cack, the other only slightly so. Both outer pots (1 and 4) were well cacked up, whilst 2 and 3 were relatively OK. Any suggestions from the assorted throng as to why this occurs on the outer pots?

Standby for more faffing about and hitting things!:aidan:D:D

Strange on my GSX1100 it was the other way round, because the centre pots run hotter the valve stem oil seals go hard and allow them to use more oil so cake up the piston crowns and outlet ports.
