Project Supermoto - Outtomunch comes out of retirement

Andres, What tyres are you running on the DRZ ?

What the wheels came with, a Michelin wet on the front and some Bridgestone on the back - it's a road tyre but can't remember what sort. I'll want something grippier on the back after Wiscombe (or maybe learn to ride the bike better ;)).

Just been having a read of this and realised that I have got just about everything to be able to give this a go. DRZ, SM wheels, van, but no leathers. Any other option on clothing ?

You have to have leathers but zip together are ok, you don't have to have a romper suit. Having said that I bought some old race leathers off here for £70 and have another borrowed set. If you fancy a go you're welcome to borrow one of them :)

if yer interested i've a few part worn cut slicks you can have FOC if you want. I won't be going back to racing supermoto:tearsso they are surplus to requirements. Just a tip, you may want to get yourself some tracktight or equivelent for your tyres, they help soften up the rubber and make it grip harder, which for the short runs in hillclimbing would help. Demon tweeks sell it. I'd love to have a bash, maybe i could borrow back my old ktm and give her a blast. mmmmm that might be an idea. Here's a photo of her in her prime, 78bhp 570cc, awsome monster, oh yeh get your hands on a hole shot device, holds the forks down for the start, meens you can get much more power down off the line:thumb

Thanks for the tip on the 'tracktight' and the offer of tyres :beerjug: - I was going to get a set of full wets for next seasons as felt they would grip better on a short run than would cut slicks - what do you think? If you reckon the slicks would be better then yes I'd love to have them off you, ta.

Hole shot device, ha ha  I'm on a DRZ :D Seriously though, Nick my mate on the Berg is getting one for next season but I feel it would be wasted on me

Defo looks like Team ukGSer is taking shape :thumb

Great post Outtomunch, really enjoyed reading it as it bought back fond memories for me as I used to compete in Sprints ans Hill climbs, all be it in a Turbo Technics converted XR4x4 sierra, happy happy days. I used to curbourough as a regular event.

I had to sell the car 4 years ago after having it for 14 years and was gutted but as it was road legal I could not register here in France without it costing me more than the car was worth!!

I do have a 1988 CR500 sitting in the garage here and after reading your posts am sorely tempted to 'sort it out' and have a crack at it over here as they do run same events here called 'course du cote'.

Anyway congrats for taking part it is a real adrenalin buzz even, as you say, if it is only for 5 mins!!

Cheers Tank and here's to you 'sorting it out' this year on the Honda :beerjug:

As an update.............well, I did bugger all hill climbs this year/season, various excuses but none very valid

Anyway, things are gonna (might) change around here :blast

I have a nice Husky 610 all kitted up ready to go and me and my mates have all promised to nag each other to death next year in order to get a few rounds in. I've also had an inquiry from a yoof off this site and I know that one or two others on here are interested :thumb2

Sooooooooooooooo........................who's up for some sort of, shambolic, do it when we can arsed, fall off lots, Team ukGSer for the 2012 season :nenau

I am truly shit at Hill Climbing so don't be scared. Don't be shy. If I can do it anybody can. If you've read through this thread you'll know that you can do it on any bike, including your everyday road bike. It's not about winning, it's about coming last and having a laugh :D

Rol up, roll up :JB
