To my great shame forgot about this and it has been sitting buried under a load of crap at the back of the shed for over 7 years.

When I bought the bike it was a very unloved and non running standardish 1983 Suzuki GSX750 ED (the naked version of the more usually seen ES and EF models ) that had been imported from the States in the early 90's registered and then abandonned in a garage.

I initially intended to build a rough replica of the Kevin Schwantz race bike using a half fairing and uprated running gear.

Early on in the project I was quite enthusiastic stripping it down and uprating the front end with later GSXR1100 K forks , wheel and brakes and at the rear fitted a 600 Bandit wheel and brakes and a modified shock linkage allowed fitting of a Ducatis Monster rear shock.

I got as far as fitting up the EF half faired bodywork and then decided I didn't want to go down that route and decided to make a load more work for myself and make a replica of the older style GS750E .

Got a damaged tank and repaired it using lead loading and moved the petrol switch to clear the engine and removed the old filler and flap replacing it with a flush cap and filler neck from an old GS850 tank, picked up an old Guillari seat from a 550 and modified the brackets to fit the monoshock frame and had it recovered by Saddlecraft.

Even got as far as rebuilding the motor with new rings , camchain and tensioner plus gaskets and rebuilding the carbs with new gaskets and jets and test fitting a set of Bandit 600 clocks .

Then lost interest and parked it up at the back of the then newly built shed (in 2010) and proceeded to bury it under a load of crap and forget it was there .

Found it again when looking for something else and decided to dig it out and get started again, hopefully it will be ready for next year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well as a result of the collapse of my old shed this is back in the garage , I have the engine on a frame and lifted the cam cover and the cams are still covered in assembly lube , I stuck some oil in the bores and a battery onto the starter and it spins over like a good one . have polished up the outer casings and the engine is cleaned down ready to be painted .

The rolling chassis was mocked up years ago and the brake system has been fully built up and operational on two previous occasions and then I ended up robbing the Goodridge Build a Line fittings off it for other projects , this week I got the brakes all plumbed in (although not bled up) . I replaced the front master cylinder with a used one from a GSF1200 bandit and the old Ducati Monster shock was replaced with a used Sachs unit (the rear suspension linkages were altered to lift the rear end .
As it stands the bike has Suzuki GSXR 1100K front forks and wheel /brakes (the forks are going to be replaced with a good set of GSF1200 ones and the front wheel with a lighter weight GSX600F one , the clocks are from a GSF600 Bandit ,whilst the rest of the bodywork is GS750 stuff (the tank is modified) . In need to make up some fibreglass sidepanels and everything will need repainted especially the tank due to wet storage .20250930_175134 - Copy.jpg20251023_142500.jpg20251019_145916.jpg20251023_142438.jpg20251023_142406.jpg

Hopefully it will get done this winter, once the bew shed is built I can clear all of the garage of the Yamaga XS650 and get the GSX on the bike ramp

No expensive powder coating on this one , frame will be done with the spray gun and Chassis Black paint

Almost four hours today trying to find the bloody wiring loom for the bike , had to move all the bikes around to check the shelving and boxes at the back of the garage , no luck . Went into the garage loft and had to check every one of twenty or thirty boxes and move around wheels ,tyres etc etc and still nothing .
Checked the smaller shed in the garden again nothing then eventually checked some of the boxes that I moved into the new shed/workshop and even though they are only supposed to have Yamaha XS650 parts in them I found it sitting in a box under the Yamaha wiring loom and electrics .How the hell it got in there I have no idea but at least I have found it and can start to fully check it over .
Then typically I thought I would have a go at starting the Katana and despite it being permanently on an Optimate it is shot so that will be two YB14 LA2 batteries I will need one for the project and the other for the Katana . Will need to see if Tayna have any discount codes on over the winter

The 1100 k forks were pretty decent from what i remember and werethe last of the right way up on the GSXR 1100 hundred;; the next model the L were upside down jobbies; i've rode both more or less back to back and preferred the K to be honest. :beerjug:

Not meaning to teach your granny to suck eggs! "But!"

I really do not know why people leave Batteries on Optimates Just Charge the battery fully and once that is done Disconnect it OR stick it on for a day every month!

The plug and play and leave it on! Is pure bullshit! It will cycle and recycle and they prematurely screw batteries!

So so many times, I have heard, "I keep it on an Optimate!"

Yup that will be why it is fucked then!!

And if you are not going to use it for a few months ?? Add STABIL to the fuel and run the bike until its up to temp and the STABIL is in the lines and the carbs and top the tank up again If it is not got any room to expand into, it means a permanently saturated vapour

Blow the tyres up to 55 PSI (and Leave a note on the key or speedo OR both !!)
