I’m fitting a set of engine bars to my 2011 gs and since all the previous bikes have already had them fitted I. Am trying to suss out what torque value to use when tightening the bracket to the lower engine thread?

Nothing on web that I can see so thought I would ask.

Pic shows the bars.

Thanks in advance..

Less than whatever[1] torque I used on mine. Luckily I have the right helicoil set.

[1] I think the thread must have already been damaged.

Are you talking about the two which go into the lower engine block ?

One goes through the subframe to the block the other is an open hole

I had the torque for the front one from Heed when i fitted there crash bars, the rear came from the reprom CD

Pics of the bolts / holes will help

Thanks, all on now and torqued to tight. So if you have the values let me know and i will check them.

Yes, it’s the ones that are threaded into bottom of engine those bolts M10 shown below.

Thanks

Torque settings from my Haynes manual:

Crash bar centre section bolts; 19 NM
Crash bar to crankcase bolts; 25 NM
Crash bar assembly and frame screws; 9 NM
Fuel tank guard to crash bar bolts 19 NM

Hope this is what you need
