Protective jeans

I still wear a pair of Shoshoni jeans that I bought 8 years ago.

Armoured knees and hips, as well as double thickness heavy denim on knees, hips and seat.

And HG do some 'Airflow'-type trousers and jacket, less costly than BMW gear, but armoured. It's very comfortable in hot weather, but if it rains, you'll get wet!. But then you do with jeans.

Agree with Stephen and others about draggin jeans comfort and coolness + the extra padding on the knees and arse helps you to keep warm in cool weather too. I have the cargo pants and they are just about the most comfortable jeans I have ever had. They appear well made but I have not tested their abrasion resistance. I wore them last week on an offroad trip with enduro knee pads underneath - it worked well and I may do this more often.
BTW agree with Stephen re evaporative cooling with wet cotton - it doesn't last very long when over 35C + travelling at speed but it works well for a while

I also wear Draggin Jeans - got a black pair and the new blue black denim ones (bought the black ones at Charlie Williams in Chester for 2/3 the price they are in Aus ..... and they are made in Aus... go figure !!!)

Fit and look just like normal jeans - one thing I have found though is in really hot weather ie 35 plus I get a sore bum from the Kevlar maybe its not wicking the sweat away so have found that a pair of cycling pants underneath help.

And how are you wetting the thigh area exactly? :D

On that run it was 42*C. When I took a swig from my hydration pack, the water in the tube was warm. I pinched the bite valve between finger and thumb and let it squirt onto my thigh for a few seconds until it ran cooler. Then I had my drink. 10 minutes later, I'd repeat the process on the other side. Before you set off or at a fuel/rest/food stop you can also splash some water around. It's a pleasant feeling compared to that sort of heat.
