Thanks Mark

Bracket does seem nice & solid. Would probably be nicer in stainless or aluminium. Anyone out there fancy a go.....

Wader - nice picture! I used to live in Orkney and there were very few signposts to Twatt - apparently they all used to get stolen by tourists! The rather unfortunate thing is that many people in Orkney have a surname relating to where their family came from - I always used to snigger when calling a "Mr. Twatt":D

Funny story behind it.. I drove past the sign and decided it was worthy of a picture, stopped and started to do a turn in the road and promply dropped the bike! The car that had been following must have had a laugh as the sign would then have been pointing at me!

Nice job. I'm ordering one. Hope I get it sorted before my hol!

Going to try to cannibilise my slightly flimsy Autocom PTT unit & attach it to this instead.

Mean't to ask this as well - How did you get on cannibilising the autocom ptt unit? Easy job?

I've just resurrected this thread as I've been asked by a couple of friends to help them with a PTT for their new GSs.
The brackets I have used previously came from Sonic as per the link before, the switches took a little longer to source and come from Farnell

http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?SKU=1086619

This is a waterproof to IP67 switch, prewired with more than enough to reach the Autocom switch and fits the cutout on the Sonic bracket perfectly.
I drilled two 1.5mm holes in the Autocom PTT box and threaded the wires through, soldering them to the two spare tags on the internal switch in the box. The Autocom PTT is on the headstock side of the handlebar switch gear (too bulky to strap to the rubber grip) and the Sonic PTT falls nicely to hand (Thumb!) without having to take your hand off the grip, also the VOX/PTT/Permanent transmit switch on the Autocom PTT is still readily reached.
Hope this helps somebody, my friends and I find it makes our rideouts more enjoyable.:jibber

An update on the bracket.

As ANTS mentioned, Sonic told me that they do not actually supply these brackets now and also put me on to Vehicle Developments in Andover.

Their website is http://www.vehicledevelopments.com

They only deal with the police normally so they are not set-up for retail sales, however they have been very helpful and are willing to supply me with one, though it means sending a cheque.

Farnell's have a minimum order value of £20.00 but they have pointed me in the direction of their sister-company - CPC:D

There seems to be no minimum charge here and they're cheaper for the same item.:thumb2

Top mount will not work on 1100 with choke...

Bought one of these brackets plus switch from Automotive Developments in Andover
Part number 224262 momentary 2 wire normally open in red at £22.80 inc vat
Part number 224369 1 off + carriage & vat = £28.50 Total £51.50

On my '96 1100 the choke interferes with the top mount and the bottom mount puts the switch in the path of the clutch leaver. I am returning the bracket for a refund:(
