I'm planning a trip down to Hereford in September. I'll be camping in Hereford so I thought a bit of comfort for the first night would be in order.

Before I hit Booking.com etc, any recommendations and especially if the place has reasonably secure parking?

Every year we travel down to the Cotswolds for the WOMAD Music festival, as we try to stay away from the motorways for some, if not all the journey we tend to find somewhere to stop halfway down.
Therefore, I have a few suggestions but they are not the cheapest as we like to treat ourselves, finding somewhere with very nice rooms and a restaurant serving good food.
So, in my order of preference:

  1. A bit further south of Cheshire, in Hodnet, Shropshire, The Bear Inn. It's near Market Drayton. The rooms and the restaurant are excellent. I've stayed here a few times and never been disappointed.

  2. If you want to go a bit further South, another I'd recommend is in Ludlow, The Charlton Arms. The rooms are very good and the food is excellent. I've only stayed here once, but I would again.

  3. The final one is in south Cheshire, just north of Crewe; The Bears Paw in Warmington. The rooms and the food are very good. I've not stayed here for a few years, but have been several times in the past.
Hope that helps and is the kind of thing you are looking for.

Have a look at ‘Spoons.

Dunno where they have them, but some of their pubs have rooms. They are very nice!
