And quite similar in design to what was going to be the MKII hugger until it all went tits up at MCL.... Looks good!
 
Just ordered one from Motorcycle Exhausts, so I'll provide some feedback once I've received it :)
 
PUIG HUGGER

I got one. easy to fit, looks good, well made. with regard to it's usefulness it doesn't seem to do much. i still get crud over the back of the bike. i even took off the bmw splash guard but no difference. i bought it over the more expensive nippy normans carbon fibre job as it was £50 more. not sure how good they are over the puig? to me £170 for the puig seems a lot of dosh, let alone £240!

That might have just stopped me buying one. Its looks a good solid bit of kit as well. Thanks for posting your results :thumb2

Mine's just arrived, so I'll let you know how I get on with it.

Funnily enough, my mate's Ilmburger didn't seem to keep his K1200S any cleaner than my K1200S sans hugger, so I never bought one. Decided on a hugger for my new GS though due to the exposed ESA shock

be good to get another opinion. maybe it's the roads i'm on? country roads, lots of dead leaf matter, grit, mud, small dead animals etc...

whenever i go out i have to jetwash the bike when i get home (bits of dead hedgehog everywhere). i always like to keep the bike clean.
 
if you only want to protect the rear shock a mudsling fromm nn is just the job,not cheap but it works,had them on my last two 1200 gs
 
The Puig one looks better on the bike than my black fiberglass NN one - and I prefer the way it mounts to the bike.

But I dont think I will be buying one seeing as I already have a hugger.
 
:)I 've got on on order but there's a back log from the factory. Having said that if you want to buy one order one before the 1st Jan as the VAT goes back up to 17.5%.

Huggers won't stop the crud going over the back of your bike but will keep a lot off the suspension linkage. I had a Skidmarx one on my old Bandit which kept the linkage clean. I don't know why the manufacturers can make their own shields for the rear suspension?
 
I opened the box yesterday to have a look. The black plastic mudguard looks fine, but the supporting arm looks a bit rough - it's cast aluminium, but it's a rough sand casting and fairly poorly finished in parts.

Looks OK from a distance though. I tend to be overly critical as a former QA inspector.

I ordered one of these on 5th December from http://www.motorcycle-exhausts.co.uk/ after reading this thread. I have yet to receive any goods from them despite a number of emails. They took £158.01 from my credit card on 5th December, six and a half weeks ago. The hugger is now advertised at £151.22 on their website. I've sent another email to them and await the reply with baited breath.

Has anyone else dealt with this company?

Forget the e mail and pick up the phone and give them what for......
Many small operations dont seem to have the computer skills to work with e mails etc:rob
 
i got mine off ebay. paid a bit more than that. i keep having to jetwash my bike just the same as before. my advice would be to try and cancel the order and look out for the ilmberger carbon job. i couldn't find a good used one but saw one just after getting the puig (sods law).

most people swear by the ilmberger and after seeing on one of my customers bikes it looks better than any picture and is really well made.
 
Would a hugger still fit with a mudsling or wouldn't they're be the room especially with ESA :nenau

I have a mudsling at the moment but do like the look of a hugger over the wheel and wouldn't mind that bit extra muck/rain protection.

Probably overkill as i know, but just wondering

:)
