Afternoon all, I've recently noticed a steady, pulsing vibration on my F800GS when I'm in 5th gear and the engines held between 3-3.5k revs. If I pull in the clutch then the pulse disappears so am presuming it's gearbox related (though I'm clueless in the spanner dept. to be fair...)? There's no pulse in any other gear and if I'm accelerating through that band in 5th then there's no issue - it's only when I'm maintaing those revs.

I've racked up just over 22k miles on it from new and the first MOT is looming... Googling the issue yields nought but a single post with no resolution on a different forum, so I'm hoping the more heavy weight brains here can maybe give me an idea as to what the issue is and whether I'm in for a lovely bill from Vines...

Thanks in advance.

Yep - original chain has been flawless with the Scottoiler fitted... until now, it would seem.

I'll check the sprockets now...

Thanks for the advice - much appreciated :)

I did a mod to fit a washer between the sprocket cover and frame because some chain links were rubbing causing the effect you are noticing. See if any chain link rivet heads have become polished by rubbing.
