Pump it up

This my seem like a strange request but does anybody know the best brand of garage to get their tyres inflated.

I am having trouble finding a garage that has a tyre pump that will fit inside the front spoked wheel to inflate the tyre. Access to the rear is okay at most places but access to the front is a lot harder because most garage pumps are fixed with a long soild tube from the valve connection, finishing in a large round object that is clamped to the flexible tube, so restricting access. This made more difficult because of the front wheel having the brake discs and spoke so close together.

I know this is difficult to imagine without a picture but a) It's dark and b) I'd look a bit of a twat taking a picture in the local garage of an air pump.

Advice on this matter would be helpful before my tyre runs flat!!

titch what you want is a right angle adaptor thingy that you screw onto the valve , as and when required .

available from good ,and probably not so good motorbike shops everywhere mike

Or you could buy a foot pump. You'll be able to set the tyre pressure when it's cold, which is good.

They're about 90p each...anmy push biike shop will do them too.

Don't leave it ON the wheel though, keep it in your tool kit for when you need it

A foot pump is definately the way to go. I only use garages when I caught with a puncture.

Something to do with rotational forces, added and offset weight of the adaptor wrenching the valve seat out, possibly?

Would it be O.K. to leave the footpump attached to the valve?

I attached one when replacing the back tyre (access to the front tyre is fine). The chap suggested I leave it on permanently, but I was warned that it would create a high pitched whistling noise, which obviously varied with the speed you were going. The whistling was so annoying that I took it off, and now just keep it in my breast pocket for when I need it.

Right angle valve purchased and stored in tool kit.

Foot pump bought for use at home when needed.

you can buy right angle valves that bolt into rim. try a ducati dealer.

they're very neat & don't whistle, at least you can't hear them over the Termi's
