...and another nail in the rear. I guess the ultraseal stuff helped seal it up a bit but I have found that
a) the stuff tends to sit in a thin line in the mid-line of the tyre.. . it doesn't get to the edges much. Well, at all really. I threw in two doses of the stuff which is why I say, it helped, a bit. Well, OK then, it just made me feel better to load it in.
b) The supplied BMW repair kit is a bit carp. Especially after all this time - the bike is 10 years old. So the rubber ring seal thingies didn't want to be all that stretchy. The tube of glue was still good to go tho'
c) It being a Sunday, it was a cas eof "fix it yerself or find another way to work tomorrow"
d) searching here gave a tip about i. heating the rubber rings and ii. use glue. Lots and lots of glue. So I did.
e) The very last ring finally went in and now, after a few hours setting time etc. and a test ride, all is looking good. Fingers crossed.
f) Metzeler Tourance tyres have a sort of patterned inner face to them. This makes seating yer average mushroom patch a bit of a hit and miss affair. Dunno if Stop and Go kits will tolerate mushrooms soaked in glue.
g) I have ordered one of these. Serves me right for not having ordered one long ago, but they are a bit pricey. Hence, shutting the stable door....
h) The rear is quite worn now (15000 miles or so on it) - and the front is very old (umm, 6 years or so? - it's only in the last 2 years I have really started using the bike heavily) - so I will spend £150 smackers and get a new set. I had hoped to last 'em out 'til Spring and the MOT but safety first methinks.
