As per the title on the the way back from yet another sarries win, I had a screw in the rear tyre.

Firstly, a big thanks to the chap on the 73 plate GS that stopped to check I was okay.

Secondly, and the reason for the post, is what a top bit of kit the Dynaplug Pro is. https://shop.dynaplug.com/products/dynaplug®-pro

I pumped up the tyre using the Ring RTC400 https://www.ringautomotive.com/en/product/RTC4000

This got me off the motorway to a lay-by. I then spent literally five minutes putting the bits in the Dynaplug, removing the two inch screw, and inserting the plug.

I reinflated the tyre which got me home, albeit still losing pressure, so maybe two plugs should have been used.

Scary place to get a puncture. Glad you got it sorted safely.

Excellent bit of kit that Dynaplug.

Agree with L2RKE.

A motorway is the worst place to get a puncture, not just because of the speed, but these smart motorways now dont have hard shoulders.
Its the stuff of nightmares.

Well done sir.

Bill,

Good to hear your success story, and thanks for the recommendation for the Dynaplug.

Are you / is anyone aware of a UK retailer, as £19 (plus possible tax & duty from our great and glorious post office) is a bit steep on top of the £50 product?

There is a UK supplier at https://www.dynaplug-uk.com/ I copied the USA site.
I was lucky that the stretch of the M25 had a hard shoulder, even with an awareness from working on them when I was in the police it is definitely a hostile environment.

Do the plugs age, as I'm lucky enough not to have used mine whilst I've had it?
Not sure. I’ve had one for years and recently replaced the sticky, pointy bits because they seemed to have gone a bit hard.
They don’t cost much for a set of new ones so I thought why not.
The old ones may have worked fine but didn’t want to take the risk.

Dynaplug instructions suggest stored plugs need a little water (or spit, in a tight corner) to keep them flexible and sticky. I have been using a kit + spare plugs I bought from Jenny and Cliff at @AdventureBikeShop over last 4 years and swear their the bees knees.

I paid £35.99 including delivery from Amazon

Never used it on the m/c but smaller version on my bicycle many times

I'm not seeing that in their instructions. Water / spit makes them less sticky for easier insertion according to: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0587/9175/5869/files/TIPS_FOR_PLUGS.pdf?v=1676004805

I've got a £25 cheap string set, I had a puncture going down to Cornwall on a brand new set of tyres, less than 300 miles on them. Used the string stuff and 2k miles later it's still going strong. I've fixed four others this year on their bikes and they too have been fine.
