Puncture - how far out from centre can you go

Think ive picked up a slow puncture :(

riding home tonight i had to do a wiggle to avoid some rocks / cobbles that had been deposited on the road.

I did a precautionary check when i got home and found a bit of flint in the main tread blocks

I popped it out, and i'm sure as i came out i heard a hiss.

There isnt any obvious air rushing out, and soapy water shows a tiny bubble getting a little bigger but not like bubble gum ;).

So the question is do i wait for it to get to a full blown escape :(

or do i attempt to plug it. if i can or do i order a new tyre and done with ?

Its near the edge of the tyre, but not right on the side wall ?

Picture would help, but if tyre is nearly at end of life, better to change than worry.
 
It might have been better to have taken it out while equipped and ready to repair it. I say that because if you now go in with braddle to prepare it for the plug you won't know the angle it was at, therefore you risk making another hole... DAMHIK!

As mentioned above, a new tyre is probably in order. So in view of that, you might as well try and repair it.

I had this with a nearly brand new tyre... ended up buying a new one...

Take off the tyre. Inspect for damage to inside of tyre. Apply patch to inside of tyre. JJH
 
Ive just been out and had another look,

Not sure if its a puncture, applied soapy water, and it didnt seem to bubble any more


anyway here is the pic

Just plug it, I put a stop and go plug in my TL rear tyre then rode it until it was worn out, roughly the same p!ace
 
I hit a piece of flint in the meon valley a few years ago, sadly it sliced open a near-new rear tourance. I made it to Bahnstormers but had to get it replaced at BMW prices, it was fecked. I was not a happy chappy! Awful stuff that flint rock.
 
Recent experience - had a piece of flint stuck in the rear tyre pretty much on centre. Plugged it with sticky string and have added another 300 miles two-up and no air loss - quite impressed really. Tyre has 3mm left on it.
 
Went out this morning and it was up :)

So in for a penny, thrashed it to within an inch of it's life ;)


Nice and hot and sticky and left it in the car park ;)


Sods law is going to say it will be flat when i leave to go home ;)
