Here we go.

Wednesday, screw in my (reasonably new) rear Tourance. D'oh! Screw taken out, plugged with bikes puncture repair kit, inflated with little CO2 thingies, wobble to nearest garage + inflate. Job done!

Thursday. Another fecking screw in my tyre! Feck it! Screwed the bloody thing in a bit tighter, put 20psi in it and wobbled home. Just fixed it using said puncture repair kit.

Now, seeing as how it seems to be the done thing to ask advice about the tiniest detail and minutae concerning the bike, What's The Best Puncture Repair Kit To Replace The One That Came With The Bike?

Rema Tip top is the kit to use I know hein Gericke sell them or ebay and may be a few others.

I've used both. Neither is meant to be permenent but most garages will only repair a puncture if it is in the very centre of the tyre. So if I wanted to get a few more miles out of my tyres I would go for the BMW/Rema type kit.
The stopandgo is quicker to use but the mushroom head was breaking off inside my tyre when I changed it only 200 mikes later. The rema fix was still sound having been done 3000 miles before.

I used the BMW kit, didn't have my specs so my partner read the destructions to me, worked a treat. I tested the pressure a week later and it hadn't lost a single psi! However, get the tyre off and get a proper plug fitted they are a totally different kettle of fish and are a permanent repair rather than the get you home emergency repair you're effected.

That's sort of the plan. I bought a set of knobblies off of Gilson today (cheers mate see you soon still on your GS!), but can I find a tyre place open on a Saturday afternoon? Can I feck! The plan was to get the knobblies fitted and have the Tourance repaired properly for use next winter as it's only 3-4k miles old. I may have to buy some tyre levers tommorow...

The proper patch fixed inside the tyre is good on big tyres with flat insides (car / truck) but getting them to adhere and stay on a curved surface is not easy.
i
f the tyre loses pressure for any reason, the internal patch will become detached when the tyre flexes. Now, you have your new puncture and your old one too!!!

I believe the rat's tail plugs are best - easiest to insert, seal well. Fit and forget.
