Push Bike

What's it for?

Downhill, crosscountry, roads, expeditions?

The type of bike depends on what you want to use it for, The Stuff is a good bike for jumps etc, but for a general heavy duty cross country style you'd be better with a Kona Hoss.

Just out of interest, how did you narrow your search down to this one?

When I bought a MTB hardtail back in January, (only used it twice so far :o ) it was a minefield with so much choice.

In the end I opted for the Specialized Rockhopper Disc bought from Red Kite in Shirley. They matched all the internet prices plus chucked in some three Presta spare tubes & did me some SPD 920's at half price, so I was happy with that.

Cannot remember the exact price now, but it was not quite as expensive as this one.

It has the same frame spec as the upper end Specialized MTB's and quite a decent groupset as well. To finish it off, hydraulic discs front & rear and a respectable set of wheels.

Pity I have'nt has time to use it yet, but come the winter..... :o

PS
Doesnt come with a girlies seat like the Kona does either... :nono

What's wrong with a girlies seat? ;)

Actually that seat is designed for jumping, which is why I ask what Yodagaot wants the bike for.
Kona Hoss is designed as a "Clydesdale" bike for the larger rider - not that I am insinuating yodagoat is large, but can't think of any other reason he would particularly want a "strong" bike. Most mountain bikes at that sort of price are strong - that's what they are designed for.

kona hoss

Most hardrails are pretty solid bikes, and the Specialized Rockhoppers are very good.

I've got a Rocky Mountain and a Cannondale, but have had Konas, Marins and Specialized in the past.

So come on Yodagoat. Why do you need a strong bike, and what's it going to be used for?

This cost me about 3k a few years ago

One of only a few frames brought into the country.

Full Ti frame, XTR mechs, Raceface stem, headset, seat post and crank. Can't quite take to these disc brakes so I've stuck to the Magura hydraulics. Marzocchi Bomber 'X' Fly upfront.

The hoss does seem better suited. I had never heard of a Clydesdale bike before. I am of the larger build (6'3 and just under 15 stone) I used to do alot of jumping when I was younger, I was thinking about getting back into jumping, but Im sure the Hoss would be just as good as the Stuff with me on it.
I currently ride a tuned up Klein Pulse comp, but its getting a bit old now. i kitted it out with stronger rims (mavic 121) and riser bars etc, but it just doesn't stick with my mates new cannondale which has fancy hydraulic disk brakes.

Wizard - Whats wrong with snot green? Thats the same colour as my hair!
