putting a optimate lead on a 1150 gs adventure battery

hi guys,

can i ask if you remove the seat on a bmw 1150 gsa and take the right plastic panel off by the tank, and remove the bolt and nothing else can you lift the tank enough to get to the battery terminals to put a charge lead on the battery or do you like the youtube videos have to undo more stuff to get the back end up enought to get at the battery bolts

For peace of mind I would also disconnect the fuel lines and the flat pup connector. Just means that you will not strain anything

You don’t need access to the battery
Charge it via an Optimate or CTEK & DIN plug via the beak or starter motor socket

so if my battery charger in the garage is connected with a din plug into the beak that will charge the battery is that right

is the wiring from that din socket on the beak strong enough to charge the battery regular, i ask as i have a xt1200 that the aux socket is only 3 amp fuse so ok for satnav charge phone but no good for charging battery you would blow fuses etc

I usually use the one by the gear lever (so not sure on the beak one) to charge my battery with a CTEK charger and a DIN male plug lead adapter
Has worked for me on 1100/1150's for nigh on 30 years and never found the need to fit a fly lead
Also that DIN socket will run a tyre pump, no problem without blowing any fuses and just let the bike idle whilst inflating a tyre

The accessory (DIN) sockets are protected by a 10a fuse so they are perfect for charging through. Mine is always connected when not in use.

My 1150 is connected at the moment to the DIN socket mounted near the battery "jump" terminal. Works fine, unlike to 1200/1250s, due to Canbus these need to be connected directly to the battery/adjacent terminal via a fuse for them to work.
