Hi everyone, I'm having issues with my 2016 gs1200lc in that the date on my bike no matter how many times I change it always goes to 20.05.00 , I have just put a brand new battery on in the hope that would cure it but to no avail . The old battery was good also and I have no other battery related issues at all . Each time I turn the bike on that date displays ..... has anyone had the same please?

The date & time are driven by a clock chip in one of the various control modules ( i'll use the generic term ecu)

It is normally backed up by either a internal (onboard) battery / flash ram / capacitor( or a combination of these)

The long and short is the clock chip / timer either isnt getting power and resets to default, or the backup power supply is defective

unless you can identify where the power loss is, its back to the main dealer i'm afraid

If you have a Nav 5 in the cradle, it is likely to be that. If it is, update it with the latest software update from Garmin and it will be fixed.

Couldnt edit my original post,

or a good auto electrician - may be able to help
