Off to Santander on the ferry on May 8th for a week. Three days around the Pyrenees and then back to Boulogne for the SpeedFerry back to Dover on May 15th.

For the Pyrenees part of our trip does anyone reckon we should pre-book accommodation or could we turn up somewhere on-spec and find availability?

There are 5 of us, each on their own bike.

We've visited Spain lots of times, and the only time we have booked accommodation is if we fly in somewhere, and we want to be sure of somewhere to sleep on the first night. Mind you, it's usually just my wife and I, so a double room is never a problem.

May is not a particularly busy month, so you should be fine, though getting 5 singles might pose a bit of a challenge. I wouldn't bother, if I were you.

I went to Bilbao last year and didn't bother booking, and didn't have a problem. I went at the end of May / early June. Same again this year, and won't be booking.

cheers

Yep I concur with the others too. Don't bother, then your day is free to enjoy rather than worrying about getting to your evening destination on time. Did it last year and off again this year too...same ferry but on the 11th May! :beerjug:

Yep, agreed, don't book. We went in July last year, had a great time, but found the frustration of looking for one booked hotel was far more trouble than it was worth. We would ride passed super looking places (Logis we used) trying to find the one we had pre-booked. As the hol went on we gave up and just looked on arrival. Same in Spain. Caused us no problems. Going back again this year, for thee weeks. Can't wait. Enjoy it! Norman.
