Hi dudes.
Ordered a Quest 2 from Blokesstuff.com about 2 weeks ago and they said I would get it next day. Phoned them a week later to ask were it was and they said "Garmin have recalled all the Quest 2s cos they have a fault." Tried again yesterday and they said " Garmin have now fixed the fault and you should get it in about 5-7 working days."
Well, I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same delay and knows a little more about the recall? :nenau

"Garmin have recalled all the Quest 2s cos they have a fault." = We haven't got any in stock.................

"Garmin have now fixed the fault and you should get it in about 5-7 working days." = We should be getting our stock in about 5-7 working days...............

Well thats what I thought at first. So I called a few other places and they all said they didn't have any Quest 2s at the moment. Spoke to Woodys (sportouring.com) and they said there was a problem with the Quest 2 and they couldn't get any. :nenau
I may be stupid but I ain't dull.

Someone once commented that a Garmin rep had let slip Garmin acknowledged there was a problem with screen re-draw speeds on the Quest 2. I've wondered if Garmin would quietly update the 'processsor' without releasing the unit as a new model.

Maybe hommes' experience is related. Pan?

did a quick search before posting, couldn't find any news of recalls.........

if they're sorting the screen draw, that can only be good thing

Has anyone got hold of a new one in the last two weeks or so?
Hi H
Got a new one yesterday in Tottenham Court Road. Good price and several more on the shelf.
No availability problems there it seemed.
So far it works fine straight out of the box, UK and Europe V8 all preloaded, no obvious problems, but if the screen redraw is slow then I have nothing to compare it too, this is my first GPS. It does seem to not keep up if I make a slight detour from a route but that's a 'city' thing isn't it? Tall buildings etc slowing things down, poor satellite fix etc.
I'm still finding my way around the buttons...

I recently 'upgraded' from a Quest 1 to a Quest 2. The first Quest 2 had a number of problems including losing satellite lock at irregular intervals. It then moved on to not redrawing the screen as we moved along a route. Redraws & recalcs were taking over a minute minimum. It ended up going back to Garmin where they confirmed a fault (never said what the fault was) and sent a replacement.

The second Quest 2 has just been on a trip to Belgium and France with me and this one can hold a satellite lock (until riding under trees). Redraw & recalcs are quicker but nowhere near as quick as my original Quest 1. I also had a snag where selecting downloaded routes that I had made up in MapSource at home, were not recognised when I came to use them in Europe. A bit like when you haven't got the correct maps loaded for a given route on a Quest 1, if you know what I mean. A bit strange when the Quest 2 has European detail maps all loaded.

I also had a moment when the Quest 2 decided it was on UK roads rather than French and wanted to send me the 'wrong' way around a roundabout.

Other than that it was rosy :)

As for availability, we had to wait two weeks for the first Quest 2 and then a week for the second.
