I have a quest 2 and have added the SCDB speed camera files to it. I have had a few problems with it freezing while near speed cameras and would like to delete the files to see if they are causing the problem. Does anyone know how?
Cheers.

Not sure that there is a delete function....

But if you were to say... put one POI located in Eastern Russia into the unit... all your scdb stuff would be gone...

What?

POI's stay on the unit no matter how many others you add. It's maps that get deleted if you add more.

To delete a poi:-

Press Find

Press Menu

Select Delete

Then pick By Category, By Symbol, My Locations currently shown or All my locations.

Hope this helps :thumb

I don't have a Quest, but Garmin use the word POI to mean a 4 field database of "waypoints" or "favorites" that is special in that you can use them for proximity warning as a group and assign icons to the groups etc... (as well as using the term to refer to the POI's that come with the map data)

I've assumed that like on my 2820, you needed to use the POI Loader to get them on the GPS with this functionality... and the POI Loader works just like Mapsource does... all the POI's and maps have to be loaded at once...

As I said, I dont have a quest, so perhaps it works differently on that unit...

Hi Whatton:

I think the original poster was asking about how to delete custom POIs, which are POIs that are created and uploaded by the user - for example, speed camera databases.

Your answer addressed the conventional POIs that are contained in the cartographic database (City Navigator, etc.), such as restaurants, gas stations, hotels, etc.

The terminology can be a bit confusing, however, we need to keep in mind that there are now two different things that contain the abbreviation 'POI' (Point of Interest):

1) (plain old) POIs: - These are built into the map segments, along with the streets, and include restaurants, hotels, ATMs, gas stations, and the like. You cannot modify these, and you cannot get rid of them - they are integral with the maps.

2) Custom POIs: - These are POIs that the user has created (or obtained from someone else), and can represent anything at all - survey markers, speed cameras, bars with happy hours, LPG filling stations, whatever. The user can modify them.

As has already been pointed out, uploading a new set of custom POIs erases whatever is there already. So far as getting rid of them is concerned, you can delete the whole batch in exactly the same way you delete routes or waypoints - just read the user manual, it is explained in there.
