Quest for sound & The Long Way Round

OK so some of you have followed my quest for a better sound by fitting a Y-piece and remus.... I won't bore you with that anymore

BUT

I just purchased The Long Way Round, and felt the hairs on my arms and neck rise, as I heard Charlie and Ewan's bikes... I've studied the DVD, and it seems thay have the standard can and Cat fitted, so why do their bikes have a deeper growl than mine! Arggggghhhh!

Anyone care to comment on the spec on those bikes, I mean they sound more like the newer 1200's, but don't seem to have any mods.
BTW, Mine is an imported 2001 GSA from Germany, don't know if that would make a difference.

I've not got the book in front of me but I seem to remember that the spec. in the back said that cat was removed and they had remus's fitted.

The whole thing was devised as a TV prog, no matter what we were told. It would easy enough to manipulate the finished film sound with the aid of modern production methods.

Book does say cat removed and remus added so they could run on any petrol.

Do you realise I work about 30ft from that bike and have done for months now, but I couldn't tell you what the exhaust set up is

Y Piece and standard can as it sits at the moment. As far as I know it hasn't been changed since it completed the journey unless someone knows different.

Oi! What d'ya mean "silly questions"! I've been losing serious sleep thinking about this, in fact there's a book and a DVD coming out sometime about my "Remus, Y-piece sound saga".... I bet you can't wait!

Okay, it wasn't a silly question - in fact I found myself thinking "hmm, that might be the way to go with my 1100..."
