Many thanks to Mike R for posting the original tip about these bargains.

I've managed to reserve the last Quest in my local Dixons and will be picking it up tomorrow. As it's an ex-display unit I'd be interested to know what's actually included, just so I can check it's all there. Could someone post a list?

Thanks.

It says on the side of the box. Quest. Mapsource CD. A/C adapter. Car mount with external speaker. Instruction books. I think that's about it. The A/C adapter has two interchangeable plugs, one normal 3 pin and one shaver type 2 pin.

Mapsource pre-loaded?

Just got my Quest from Dixons ... and another V8 question.... it look's like my unit has been pre-loaded with European City Select v6 ... but the CD is intact ... so what extra does opening up and loading this software give me? Should I hang-on for a month or 2 ... and uploaded it and see if it gives me the option to try for a v8 update?

Loading the software doesn't make any difference to your free upgrade. If you go on the garmin website it explains the process.
I recently bought a quest with V6 and I sent an email to garmin stating that I would like my free update but I was happy to wait a bit for V8. They simply replied with an automatic mail saying they would send a disc as soon as possible (that was 2 weeks ago and I've received nothing yet). I wasn't prepared to wait that long to use the extra facilities of PC mapping.
Loading the cd will give you the facility to use the PC and update the firmware and drivers on the quest.
You will need to update it to version 3.5 (I think it comes with V2) and update the language to prevent the "take 2nd left" at roundabouts rather than "take 2nd exit". You will also have to update the mapsource version to 6.8 (the disc will probably install V6.3). V6.3 doesnt allow you to 'select maps around a route'.
Although they claim that its ready to use straight from the box theres a fair bit of downloading to do if you want it bang up to date.
Also Version 6 of the maps isnt too bad and fairly up to date. I have found some fairly recent roads on there which I didnt expect. Mind you it did tell me to enter a roundabout and take the first exit, not too much of a problem except I was on the M6 toll road at the time!
