I remember the due date fir ram-mans power cable for the quest was mid may...... any news yet??

This has been interesting so far cos, I learn that two different V-regulator chips have been used in the 'G' auto mount and bike mount.

The bike mount V-regulator has a temp rating up to 125 deg C. Our test in climatic conditions reveal that the higher rated chip is needed for those hot dusty Dakar runs or anywhere its bl**dy hot.

Availability of these chips is another story but may explain the delay on 'G' 010-10610-00. Five weeks lead time is latest !!.

We are working for end of May but its tight even now. In summary it will be as follows and with both a 2.5mm and 3.5mm jack socket options as being offered, initially anyway.

The range shall be listed as follows.

** Quest Power and Audio cable for Motorcycles **

QPAC01-25 Bare wire end power cable with in-line 1.5 amp splash proof fuse holder, long 1.8m cable length, Quest connector and female 2.5mm jack socket.

QPAC01-35 Bare wire end power cable with in-line 1.5 amp splash proof fuse holder, long 1.8m cable length, Quest connector and female 3.5mm jack socket.

QPAC02-25 Power cable with BMW plug and 1.5 amp fuse, short cable length (0.5m) for dashboard power socket, Quest connector and female 2.5mm jack socket.

QPAC02-35 Power cable with BMW plug and 1.5 amp fuse, short cable length (0.5m) for dashboard power socket, Quest connector and female 3.5mm jack socket.

QPAC03-25 Power cable with BMW plug and 1.5 amp fuse, long cable length (1.7m) for a power socket located under the tank or near the rider, Quest connector and female 2.5mm female jack socket.

QPAC03-35 Power cable with BMW plug and 1.5 amp fuse, long cable length (1.7m) for a power socket located under the tank or near the rider, Quest connector and female 3.5mm female jack socket.

I hope to post pics soon.

Steve

Is there going to be a power only cable ?

in a word .. No., in so much as, the audio is a female jack socket is on a short lead and links thru to the pins (3 & 4 ?) on the connector and GPS. Its easier to leave in than out, cos if we left it off some biker will want one for his headphone or comms.

Price?

Hi Ram-Man...

Is there any detail yet on price? Ball park or otherwise?

Will they be available exclusively from GPSW?

Look forward to the pics.....

Cheers

Stu.

I have posted some cross link details on this thread today.

http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42522

The details I have given is still accurate and its coming together slowly and surely.

Ongoing tests and with heat (sun, air temp and charging) the Voltage Regulator (Vreg) Chip shall be rated to 125ºC.

Longer screws shall be supplied so it can be 'sandwiched' between the
diamond base RAM-B-238 and the RAM cradle RAM-HOL-GA15. The screw attaching the connector to the cradle will be Philips (rather than TORX).

The delay is getting supply of these Vreg chips and may explain why the 'G' version has been delayed. Budget approx £40 inc VAT for QPAC.
