Beware, unlike the StreetPilots the Quest runs on 5v, not 12v. You need a transformer as part of the set-up if you're using a RAM cradle. Connecting bare wires to your Quest will result in a small puff of smoke and a new paperweight.

The RAM cradle requires the RAM QPAC, or you could use the car cigar lighter adapter with a suitable Maplin socket in your tank bag. This would eliminate the audio unless you butcher the cigar lighter adapter to provide an audio out. Alternatively the Garmin cradle, if you can find one, incorporates the required transformer and will bolt directly to your RAM mount (diamond or circular plate) employing the industry standard four holes.

Gary if your intention is to remove the car cigarette lighter power lead from Garmin car cradle and attach to the RAM-HOL-GA15 crade then it will fit, again use single torx screw underneath the cradle. Then use an inline power socket to the supply. One concern is that the car charger units Vreg was limited in Vtemp (50 deg C for car, bike was higher rated 125 deg C) which is what QPAC and Garmin bike charger cradles used.

Thanks Guy's for the reply.

I just want the correct kit, without cutting any plugs of my car charger.

So am i correct in thinking that a Garmin kit will fit onto my Ram mount.

The Garmin plastic connector pad should marry up to the aperature (the f***ing hole at the back of the GA15 cradle :D ) and secured by single torx screw. It ages since I have done it but as far as my grey dead cell recalls, it fits :jager

The Garmin cradle has the required holes, and comes with the required longer screws to attach to either the RAM diamond base or the circular plate amongst others.

Here was my set-up when I had my Quest, the cradle has a piece at the back that's secured to the RAM part, in my case the diamond plate (holes diagonally across). This piece is then screwed to the cradle from the front with three stainless screws that you can clearly see. Sorry, don't have a shot of it from the back.

I believe that the Garmin powered cradle for the Quest is now discontinued but a hunt around will probably result in you finding a supplier with one in stock. ISTR that they were around the £45 mark but you may get lucky as they're now discontinued. Just don't let on that they're hard to come by :D

Thanks, looks like it will be the Garmin one for me. :beerjug:
