This has probably been asked before, but I've done a search and cant find the answer
been using the garmin mount for a while and its totally pants. Water has corroded the conections, so I've recently aquired the Ram cradle and power cable for my quest. What I'd like to know is what Ram mount would you recommend?
is there one which fixes to the original garmin bar clamp, as I personally think the actual garmin bar clamp looks tidier than the RAM u-bolt bar clamp?
sorry again if this has been answered before. :nenau

Another quick question, the garmin cradle has 6 connectors, the RAM cradle only has 4.....why? is it a different cradle for quest 1 and quest2 ?

I am unsure of ..'which fixes to the original garmin bar clamp' please offer links or an image.

Using the RAM GA15 cradle with QPAC its sandwiched between and needs a RAM-B-238 diamond base (part of a mount kit). As to mount kits for 25mm/1" rail, look at RAM-B-149Z or short arm, RAM-B-149ZA. The RAM GA15 with QPAC works with RAM parts. Add a shimbo, RAP-319 if attaching to rail bar sizes under 3/4".

You only need 4 (for power & audio) . Its was considered unless I hear otherwise, the last pair of pins 5 & 6 were options by the manufacturer, serial connection (??) if my grey cells are working.

As to the pic, its possible that the two fixing holes are of same pitch as the diamond base, and I expect you'll need longer screws to get thru cradle, QPAC and their block with nyloc nuts for use inside the GA15.

Thanks for your quick reply RAM-man. Think I'll go for the RAM-B-149za with RAP319, :bow :thumb

Unless when I get home, I find that the Garmin Quest mount I have, (which has been used on an R1100s and Daytona 650 for many miles) - is cracked or deteriorated in way of the electrical contacts - I can't see why people slate the Garmin Quest mount :nenau

I have had no problems with the security of the unit, and prefer to use it rather than the RAM-mount which I purchased prior to the Garmin.

I know 3 or 4 people who have all had their Garmin Quest mounts fail because of corosion. Badly designed in my opinion. After mine completely packed in while at Applecross I decided enough was enough :nono
