Got my Quest last night - couldn't resisit after all.

One q. - can anyone show me what the Touratech mount looks like? I want to find the best way to mount it on the bars.

Oh, also - can i pop the charger that comes in the kit on to the bike outlet to charge?

I have an 1150GS

Thanks

Take your pick; http://www.touratech.de/shop_uk/enter.html

Under GPS Navigation and then Quest.

Or you can buy a ram mount and have it sitting on your cross bar as well (or anywhere else you want).

I don't think your power socket will plug into the bike unless it's euro model with the removeable red cap. Easy way to find out..................

Mine sits on the crossbar, and is just fine. You can see it clear enough ....

Never used power tp it...just use the battery ....

In a word - No. As far I know the garmin auto mount does not mate or marry onto the rear of the TT mount, though TT have been looking at the power cable issue, I hear.

You could add the charger that comes with your Quest and attach onto a RAM mount, others have done this - *but*- the auto mount charger is not sealed or weatherproof for outdoor/bike use. The Vreg chip is different and has a lower temp setting (read this forum and threads on the subject). The G bike mount and QPAC with RAM cradle have the higher temp rated chip.

Two Forum members are testing QPAC and no doubt shall post their findings and experiences soon.

Quite correct, you can't.

I've got the TT non-locking version of the mount and a TT power lead which comes with an audio plug that I've cable tied neatlt under the mount.

I've had problems with alignment of the pins but that may have been my fault on installation.

I can take some pics when I get in tonight if you like.

HTH

PS the lead is about £35 IIRC.

You "can" fit the Garmin power lead to the TT mount - I used mine that way until TT produced their own powered lead. BUT it does not give a decent connection as there is too much flex between the power lead head and Quest connectors. The TT head is much more robust.

Good luck with the battery. I've found that I always need the backlight on to view the screen and that shortens the battery life from the quoted 20 hours to around 5-6. I've since fitted a Garmin powered mount and wired it to the battery. Works like a charm :)

[Inspector Clouseau] Are you blind? [/Inspector Clouseau]

Visibility of the screen has never been an issue, even late in the day when the light is fading... and I'm a speccy four eyes :D

Adam :)

As blind as a bat who's left his glasses behind at the home for shortsighted bats :)

My peepers work fine but I find I need the backlight on during the day. At night I lower the backlight to a minimum but still have it on. Another bonus for the powered mount is that it holds the Quest more securely than the non-powered mount, imo at least.

:soapbox:

tired eyes ... get a magnifying glass

I had resisted this one, but; ... if using a RAM mount there is a screen GPS Magnifier coming available which overcomes tired eyes so you won't have to lean closer or squint to look at the screen.

The magnifier is, 50mm x 100mm with 2x magnification.

It comes with a diamond adaptor, so it works with all RAM cradles and a ratcheting feature with flex rod.

Part No is RAM-MAG-1 for those who'll need it.
