I'm still a relative newby to my 1200GS, but love it dearly, as it cost me dearly! (2007 model - 5.5K on the clock).

I have a simple question, my normal 25 mile (each way) commute into Docklands normally returns in a constant 49-52mpg, due to nice steady 50-60 trawl, and a small blast down the M11. A few weeks ago, the revs started creeping higher, and I thought I had a clutch go, but after checking on this site, I found it was the more usual fault of the handguard slipping down a few degrees and slightly pressing the clutch (at the same time I notice the mpg falling).

However, since then, my average mpg is now 44-47 at best. I know this is still pretty good in comparison, but nothing else changed apart from weather a bit cooler. In fact, with the nights drawing in, and poor weather, I'm probably riding slightly less aggressively than before. Does the fuel computer need a few miles to recalibrate again?

Am I just being paranoid?

Cheers Dan

I wouldn't worry about it. Has it had a recent service? My '07 changed quite a lot with the new firmware update - much more linear fuel gauge, higher economy reading, runs just the same.
