Thanks HRH.
3 to 4 hrs depending if yir a fat bloater that eats alot

That is a nice easy pace can be done in under 2
Rough plan would be to cross over to Armadale in the morning, drop the panniers in either KOL or Broadford, or at least secure a room at one of them for the night, and then set out for a swatch around the place.
But, it seems that every time I go to Skye there’s something conspiring against me.
Last August, full of good intensions and after a very long absence, found that the bloody place was full! There was a Highland games gathering in Portree and consequently zero availability of a bed anywhere. An absolutely gorgeous day with the Cullins actually visible and I had to leave. I wasn’t impressed with my own lack of forethought, planning and nae tent on the back of the bike.
Lesson learned - Sometimes it pays to book ahead even though you don’t like sticking to a preset plan. Ho hum
The (long) time before that I was camping with the wife and got washed away from a bog on a hillside! Strange but true. Found it amusing that the ferry loader / seaman at Armadale thought I was a German (only Germans ride BMW’s apparently?)and insisted on speaking in pidgin English to give me directions as to how to get onboard. Tube’s chin hit the deck when I said ‘Aye nae bother pal, just tell us whit yae want me tae dae in plain English’
Scary ferry in them days too, it had an oversize elevator with no sides on that lowered you down into the car deck
Thanks for the route John. Folks could do a whole lot worse than following that.
I know a fair amount of the mainland bit and would recommend any visitor to follow it and get to some of the best bits of Gods country.
