Probably a question one of the technically gifted may be able to answer. An thats not exaactly me..

Ive got a Garmin Navigator IV which is great because when you have splashed out for the bluetooth headset you can listen to music on the move from the micro sd card inside the device.

Trouble is on the occasions where I want to actually exceed 45mph the wind noise totally obscures the music, even when the media volume is on 100% and all I can hear are the sat nav directions which are loud and clear.

Is there some way I can rip music onto, say windows media player so the volume is louder than the default setting. Seems a bit of a waste of £300 if all I get out of it is the ability to hear directions from the sat nav ...

There's a feature in Media Player to boost volume when ripping and also a free software prog called mp3gain available online

Sorry for the slight hijack, but not just music. On our last trip to France, a mate had downloaded an audio-book to his Sat Nav, which I thought was a cracking idea. :clap

Isn't there a separate setting on the Garmin to limit the media volume? I'm sure I read something about this with a Zumo - only played music quietly but satnav directions were loud and clear. He fixed it by messing with the settings on the Zumo.
