Question for Tobers re vibration eliminators

Are these a worthwhile replacement for the standard kit 'without' the additional use of tobinators?

I used them because one of my original plastic ones broke, and I have to say they are a much more substantial fixing which does seem to eliminate the vibration, so I am pleased with them.

Seriously - the plasticy standard bits are quite fragile and do wear out and start rattling. You can use the PTFE tape fix but this is just temporary. The vibe eliminators give a much more solid fastening with a threaded rod which goes right through the front screen mount, meaning everything is tied nicely together. No idea why BMW didn't do it this way in the first place.

Great item. I switched from the stock to the Touratech "Hard Parts", which if you do not fit the Tobinators, works extremely well. Then I added the Tobinators with the vibration Eliminators. Class of it's own...

Are they plastic? or Alloy, mine seem to be an Alloy, but the vibe kit seems good.
The screws you get with the vibe kit are countersunk, should they not be dome head?, there is some dome heads in the Tober kit, but at the moment not fitting that, so its all intact.

I use them with Tobinators, and they drastically reduce the screen shake at tickover. A much improved engineering solution over the stock plastic items

JerryP - yes - the vibe eliminators are simply replacements for the front screen fixings. They dont affect the screen position at all. They are nice shiny metal - no plastic used

Update:
Following a trip to Spa and thereabouts last weekend (800 miles of varying roads/speeds), I can confirm a definite improvement after fitting the vibration eliminators. No buzzing screen what so ever.
I had previously done the PTFE tape mod, which slightly improved the noise, but the vibration eliminators are way better.

I just fitted my vibe eliminator kit today, and im wondering about the countersunk screws that are supplied. Like les pointed out earlier, should the screws not be dome headed?, i think the countersink screws are for the tobinator brackets?

At the moment i have the counter sunk screws in, and im not sure if i should fit either, washers, or get some flat dome headed screws.

Im a bit confused, since most of the instructions were in German, from wunderlich.

Could someone advise me on the fitting of the screen, and what should i be using as screws for the fixing of the screen to the Vibration Eliminator.

I dont want to end up damaging the screen, as its now fitted "hard", to the metal, and,as there is some shake from it when starting up, and if there is no flex, surely the plastic around the screw will eventually crack.

You were up early

I fitted the kit exactly as it came from the packet. I just removed both the tapered (counter sunk?) hex heads, the fitting and rubber washer from one side, popped through the threaded rod, put the fitting and rubber washer back on the othr end, replaced the screen, and with a bit of fiddling with the length of the threaded rod to get the holes to line up, nipped it up tight with the hex heads. I'm using a NN's (Sedcem) screen which is thicker and probably less brittle than the standard screen but I doubt your screen will crack or wear due to the use of the tapered hex heads. I'd say they would grab the screen tighter than dome/flat headed or whatever would. Think about it. The tapered head of the hex heads should 'pull in' to the holes in the screen providing the tightest fit possible. This should reduce any movement and prevent wear imo. HTH.

Problem solved, i used the original Torx screws with the original spacer, that i took out when removing the plastic bits.

The countersink screws are now in the shed, and screen is fitted with the new metal ends, and using the original Torx screws.

Working night shift all week so i ended up tinkering in the early hours, then i thought of trying the old screws and they fitted perfectly
