Calling Whatton, Guru of all things photo/computer related. :bow

I am thinking of getting an account with imageshack/smugmug/etc. from what I can fathom out, I do not need to manipulate my pictures before loading them on whichever hosting site I eventually choose. My question is this:- Do I need to do any resizing of the file before I add the link to these pages? I know that if I am uploading a picture from my PC to these pages I need to resize it, I was just wondering how it was done if you use smugmug etc. :nenau

Keith,

In XP the easiest way to resize an image is to "right click the image" and use the option send to email. Then it asks if you want to resize. You say yes. It is then in outlook where you can save as and put it where you like.

This is not the only way but possible without downloading any new software. Works fine and on the screen you cannot see the difference.

MM condensed verion for people with a short attention span...

upload any size pic to smugmug

the larger the file - the longer it takes tho'

when linking - open the pic to the size you want - S.M.L - then copy properties to the img link here.

thats what i do

No you don't need to re-size the image when uploading and linking with Smugmug.

When you put the address of the photo in the IMG tags at the end of the URL address is letter. You can change this letter to give the size of picture you want to see on the forum.

Example below.........

Ti will provide a thumbnail pic

M will give a medium sized picture

L will provide a large picture

And O will provide the picture in it's original size that you uploaded

Hope this helps :thumb

P.S I can save you $5 on a Smugmug subscription and earn $10 myself! If you enter my personal coupon ( YMv8kwFa1cV4k ) in the 'Referred by' field on the signup form then we both win :thumb
