Using the QS from 1st to 2nd puts a huge strain on gearbox parts. The QS was never meant for this and it's hard to understand why one would need to use it in such low gears.

Why does it put any more strain on gearbox parts going from 1st to 2nd using the quick shifter rather than using the clutch??. So long as you don't have many revs on it works well & is smooth.
ASA version also changes up to 2nd very soon after moving off if you are on the flat. If it put a strain on the gearbox I don't think BMW would have programmed it to do it.
