Am I the only one who thinks that the forum is being devalued by all the rubbish that appears on it these days?

Recent posts include "I have dropped my bike", "I haven't dropped my bike", "I've dropped a basket of washing", and several on how many stickers is to many.

Surely I'm not the only one who doesn't want to read such tiresome drivel, especially when the titles are not always very descriptive and you often open the thread with no idea that you'll be wasting your time.

Please can we get put all the nonsense somewhere more suitable like "Beakchat and Bollox", and get back to having a forum about the bikes?

Thanks,
Mark

It's been a debated point for some time.

There are some who prefer to stay out of the B&B, and therefore there is some stuff that drifts here, and it isn't neccesarily a huge problem.

I'm not in favour of strict moderation as it generally creates more issues than it solves. Maybe the balance has gone too far in the other direction.

So, what would other 1200 owning users of the 1200 section like to happen?

It would be good to get a selection of views.

The whole site should be dedicated to the 1200 and the luddites who persist in hanging on to their wheezy old 11** boat anchors should be given 3 months to upgrade or be banished in perpetuity. :thumb

And for Airhead riders..? :D :augie

I think the bike model sections should be kept for tech type and sensible posts, all other shite (including threads like this) in the B&B.

I would let anything relating to 1200s or GSs more generally go but would kick out threads just trying to be funny. Also think some of the piss take comments coming from 1150 et al riders go too far and create a bad atmosphere.

So...serious question...why did you post this in the 1200 technical section?
:nenau

I agree aswell, the site has been 'overloaded' with what some would consider 'pointless and simplistic'' threads.......Infact I may even have been guilty of starting one or two 'tongue in cheek' ones:blast

But.......When you've been on here for the best part of a decade and 'evolving' along with the GS lineup of bikes what seems pointless and simplistic for some may be quite interesting and important for others to know especially if they're new to motorcycling, BMW and the GS range of bikes.

I don't mind answering other folks questions if it helps them to get the best out of and enjoy their bike more and we all had to start somewhere......!:thumb

Sidestand, oil, protectors, tax discs and my favourite 'what side do you fill your bike' come to mind of late:augie

FP.

PS I do agree with you, and I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that there isn't a dedicated MOD for the 'technical section'

Once upon a time, I would have booted all of this type of thread to the appropriate place.

PAUL.....WE NEED A TECH SECTION MOD!! :thumb

GENTLEMEN, CEASE AND DESIST.
if you dont like a post, dont go there again, its not worth getting bent out of shape about.
:hide after due consideration i think some people on here need a sense of humour transplant.

A bit presumptuous for a newbie, I'd say.....:rob
