Quick Action Throttle

"Bought" one from E-Bay, have requested updated invoice with all the required parts and shipping to UK.

Not paid yet as I want to make sure they come back with details on other parts required so I do not end up with £50 spent on something I cannot use.

Pity nobody in the UK does these, I feel buying from people who cannot understand you is always a bit dodgy, but I suppose their English is much better than my German! Fingers crossed.

They understood my request and got back with updated amount - £63.97 to my door at current exchange rate including the extra 10 euro part.

Lets hope shipping is as speedy.

I did it

I ve been through all this before,

I made my own, piss easy to do,just copyed the boxer design add on, it makes the throttle heavier and made my wrist sore so I took it off.

I think i may have some pics of the one i made i will have a look.

from looking at the boxer design pic id say id say the one rasher has order and the one i have is much better quality and it looks like the boxer design the cable is at slight angle from the nipple as it meets the clip as its not tappered from nothing and i guess this is why its probably heavy on the wrist ..

I made one for my zx12r like bluebird but i tappered from nothing and instead of 1/2 turn i now have 1/4 turn full throttle.

Rasher when you get the goods post up what your thoughts are on the item..

i don't think people are complaining that the boxerdesign.de one is heavy on the wrist. Bluebird was saying that his home made design was heavy on the wrist. I think - if i've followed this thread correctly :eek

I'm very interested in this as find the throttle travel too much, and it affects my carpal tunnel. Also I find it a pain having to change my grip when cruising at 80mph (on german roads of course).
I'd just like to clarify a few issues.
I gather that they send all the parts (providing you request them all) and all parts fit without the need for cutting any part of your bike?
It sounds very easy to fit, but in reality for a mechanical numpty how easy is it?
Does it make the throttle any stiffer or just simply have less travel?
Do you have to adjust anything else ie engine wise?
From a mechanical numpty's perspective it just looks as though you just stretch the cable over an extra piece of plastic. If this is the case does this not affect idle speed as there's already tension pulling the throttle cable?
I'm trying to get used to riding stood up but find that I'm a bit snatchy on the throttle, will this modification amplify this, and will I get used to it?
Will it affect warranty in any way?
And finally, has anyone got any pictures to show just how poor quality the plastic is?

Sorry for all the questions :augie

Thanks very much for your reply, much appreciated. I think I'll have to buy one of these, I guess I can always remove it for off roading if I can't get used to it stood up.
I see you avoided the question regarding how easy it is, I guess it depends on how much of a numpty you are :augie To be fair, although I don't get involved too much in the mechanical side of things I tend to manage pretty well when I do (famous last words)
Do I need to buy both these parts,as the throttle adapter set shows the cover?

Snerkler,

There are 3 designs being talked about in this thread:

1. The one by boxerdesign.de which you have pictured in your last thread. This is not the one that Ding-Dong used. ST247 has explained the installation of the boxerdesign.de model in detail in the link attached to his post on the first page of of this thread. I have bought this design and await delivery. It looks relatively simple to install and I am a technical numpty.

2. The one off ebay that Ding-Dong has used. You 2 are discussing different models at the moment.

3. The home-made job put together by Bluebird which he says suffers from a stiff action. Nobody using model 1 or 2 has complained of a stiff action

you only need to buy the items in the first of your pictures. the second picture is of a spare adaptor cover if you break the one you get with the full set.

Hope that helps and good luck. :thumb

Aha, thanks for clearing that up :thumb2

Interesting thread, thanks Rasher. I fully confer that the fun place to be is between 5K-7K revs as per the charts. I have not actually felt it an awkward transition myself getting up there but its nice to know there's an easy solution for those that do.:)

Just ordered one. My god the exchange rate is pants £1 = EUR 1.144
Works out at just over £60, hope I get on with it at that price

Very depressing, it was over 1.5 to the squid up until late 2007 and then plummeted down as low as 1.02 (according to the interweb)

With all this Eurozone crisis bollox I was hoping it would start heading up again, then good old Blighty gave a few billion quid to bale out the currency we ain't even in!!!

I reckon we would have been less shagged by Europe if we surrendered to Hitler.
