Quick bevel box question

A R1150gs bevel box will fit straight on to a R1100gs
isnt that right ???
If so what a going rate to pay for a 1150 box with about
40k on the clocks... motoworks wedsite are saying £290
for a used bevel box...seems way too dear

Ahhhh BUT!!!??? Is it an ABS one or Not?? The1150 ABS sensor is thru the drive and onto a vertical ring in the brake disc assembly whereas the 1100 is built nto the brake calliper pointing down

If it's non ABS it should be fairly straight forward but I have a memory of a hiccup lurking in the works!

As for price phone them and ask:- Nord, Yvonne, Geoff, Darren, Tez and John are all knowledgeable folks John sounds like Fred Dibnah and conjures up an image of the old bloke as you talk to him apparently he's 27 ish!!!! Anyway back on track, phone and ask for price and if it fit's and they'll keep you right

And For a Larf and to see If I get Discount next time Tell them their Northern Ireland representative told ya to Ring LOL

My 1100 has abs & the sensor is the same as the 1150, Yes it will fit i paid £100 for one (depends how fast you need it) as to if you pay £290 :thumb

Yes, goes straight on apart from any possible abs probs though can't see how as I fitted an 1100 box to my 1150 for lower gearing and abs in the same place. You should be aware though that the ratios are different, 1150 2.5 -1
1100 3-1 thats why I put an 1100 mon my 1150 to lower the gearing a bit and to get rid of that high bottom gear.

Putting an 1150 bevelbox on an 1100 may raise the gearing too much.
Just looked at the quoted gear ratios.
The 1150 is 2.81:1,not 2.5:1 compared to the 1100 3:1 ratios.
Did the 1100 drive make that big a difference to the 1150s driveability?.
Ie,what was 1st gear like in tricky conditions and how did it affect 6th gear performance.

Bevel box

I fitted the lower gearing for the trans Americas trip I did last year from Alaska to Ushia in Argentina. This incorperated many dirt roads some of which were deep gravel and I mean 100 miles or more of same not a quick dive over the rough. Anyway the lower bottom gear was brilliant top a bit lower but much better. I put it back to standard when I returned but in traffic that high bottom gear really is a pain especially after being used to the other one (21000 miles!). So, next week it's service time and I shall be putting it back to low ratio. We have recently been to Romania for a rally via Holland, Germany,
Poland , Slovakia and home via Bulgaria, Greece, Italy and France and some of the traffic met on the old eastern block roads that high bottom gear was a pain. This is my bike and I ride it so I set it up for me and if I buy another (1150) Iwould definatly go for a lower bottom gear version. Must also save clutch probs in a lot of traffic use. Fuel consumption seems the same better with TT panniers on than std.
