quick release caja sahel panniers

hello folks

i realy want some of the very tasty caja sahel panniers but i need some form of quick release system for them as my gate is just to narrow , and the before someone says knock it down its in the middle of the wall and an arch and way to expensive , i know there has to be some clever engineer type who has a simple and quick method even Civil himself

Just buy the boxes, get some used TT frames and then buy the TT pucks.

I've got a set of these on my 1150, I've only taken them off the bike once since I got them and that was to do an off ride @ Llangollen. Getting them on and off was a pain with a normal allen key, so I going to get a palm ratchet to speed thing up, and I am also going to move the brace so it dosen't use the same bolt as the pannier fixing. I'll drill a new hole and use a counter sunk bolt so it dosen't foul the panniers. But even with this, I'm not sure I could be arsed doing it on a daily basis, but that might just be me.

Err you don't mention which bike you have.

However if you happen to have a 1200gs then I can tell you; the panniers are in fact 94cm wide. This is about 2cm wider than the bars.

If your archway is wide enough for the bars then the panniers should just about squeeze through.


With a little thought, it would be possible to make the Caja Sahel's quick release.
Do a search for Micatech panniers. These have a very easy to use Q/R system. Basically if you fit the C/S pannier bolts the wrong way round, and then get some threaded disc's for the inside you'll be able to remove them in just a minute or two. You will however need to remove the contents first

yep your correct 08 gsa and the pics on the Caja website says 91cm, i know what you are saying about the bars , but its the jiggle through the gate and down the side of the house thats the tight bit ... maybe i should just move , but that would make them the most expensive panniers around ...
