Was thinking of adding an after market QS, has anyone on here had one fitted to their GS LC?.
I know that on the RR the HM QS is far better than the BMW standard.

When I bought my GSALC it didn't come with a quick shift (early 2014) Barrie Robsons supplied and fitted one for about £350?? I was fantastic....,very happy with it.

Yeah i fitted the first to the 2013 WC LC and wrote the instructions for translogic, I got flamed for fitting a quickshifter by forum bods then several followed suit and fitted the translogic kit and loved it, 2014 BMW must have been listening in because they changed the looms and added shift assist.

The translogic is very good and you can set it personally to suit you so the up shift is butter smooth .

The BMW quickshifter on my GSLC never worked very well and was a huge disappointment. I fitted a HM unit to my FZ1 which was brilliant and easily as good as the factory fitted one on my K1300s and XR

Is the Translogic easy to fit, is it a plug and play or is more complicated than that, Where did you buy yours from?.

Ive had loads of translogic kits that ive fitted to various bm bikes, the LC kit came as a freebie because I was prepared to do the homework regarding the wiring details for them, it's not quite plug n play, some basic wiring skills won't go amiss, you have to cut into one wire on the throttle bodies on both pots and 2 wires to the battery + / - terminals, HPS sell translogic but if you ring translogic direct they do have a specific wiring for the gs Lc and a kit or will tell you whom to use locally to fit the kit.

The pro shift assist on my 2013 is brilliant - up and down the box without the clutch. It was on the bike when I bought it and pleased that it was.

Shift assist on the GS never came out until 2014 model so how comes your 2013 bike has it !

His must be a very late 2013 because my Sept 2013 could not have it due to not having the wiring in place.

That's correct, when bm replaced my March 2013 bike in Nov 2013 it was for a 2014 model and had shift assist .

No chance for my early 2013 then!

If your not sure have a look to see if there's a capped wiring plug on the back of the gearbox housing, this is the plug that goes into the shift assist .

Build date was the 5 September.

I didn't know it was there when I viewed the bike and the dealer didn't tell me - maybe didn't know? Anyway, it was when I collected it and met my tutor at SBW to go for a run when she pointed it out - I had no idea.

Having run it for a couple of months and a 1,000 miles or so I can say that if it wasn't already fitted I'd happily pay the £500 or so.

Pictures

Here's a couple of pics of the bike.

You can just see it in the heavily cropped image.

I am getting a new engine and I presume, new gearbox, does this mean I will be able to retro fit the BMW version to my early 2013 model?

Afraid Not the loom is different and no doubt the ecu software is too.
