Got back from a weeks' tour of Scotland yesterday, here's a selection of pics...

What more can be said about the highlands? It's more beautiful than I could have possibly imagined, just stunning and pristine, quiet well-maintained roads, tranquil, awe-inspiring, immense, all those sorts of things. Really a bikers heaven... I won't go on - but I enjoyed this trip more than any other I've done so far, even the Alps, Dolomites, Greece etc... Just lovely. If you haven't got round to 'doing' Scotland yet - you really must.

So, on the way up toward Fort William somewhere. This shot was taken moments I had picked the bike up off the tarmac with the aid of a friendly motorist and his wife, whom I had flagged down to help. It toppled over, just as it does at least once every single friggin time I go touring. Why is that? Anyway...

A view from the (in)famous road across to Applecross - the Bealach na Ba. Fabulous fish supper at the Applecross Inn. Twice :D

The road itself...

My pitch at Durness campsite. The beaches up on the north coast are stunning.

The view from my tent :D

Heading away now

This road was 'un-named' on my GPS - it goes from the north coast before you get to Tongue through to Altnaharra. View-wise, it was my favourite of the trip I think.

Then I camped at Cairngorm for my last night and was treated to this as I got ready to bed down.

No pics, but on the last day I decided to ride the B939 / B93 from Aviemore through Braemar etc to Blairgowrie rather than take the boring A9 to Glasow, where I was due to stay with mates. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this not THE best road in the world for the GS?! Bumpy, twisty, curly, technical, and with some fast straights as well, and all in astonishing Grampion scenery - this road simply HAS to be ridden. You Scots are really very lucky indeed! I can't wait to get back.

Good report Sergeant with great pictures, especially the final two which are just stunning.

Thanks :thumb

That's nothing like the real Scotland.....

I guess you must have bought those photos from some interweb site relating to some far flung place outwith these shores...

Sgt. Pluck. Nice report and pics, looks like you had the best of the weather. Its absolutely pishing it down today all day and looks like carrying on through the night and into tomorrow.
If I can be sold bold as to name a couple of the pics, the first one is north of Fort William, Stefs favourite, Loch Garry view point (it looks like a map of Scotland !!)

Another view! Can't remember exactly where this was…

Infamous Gruinard Bay

Haste ye back.

Thanks for the comments peoples - I'm still buzzing from that trip - it was brilliant - the best I've done yet, and I certainly shall be hasting me back.

GC - I was lucky with the weather - I managed to dodge any rain and rode dry the whole 8 days. There was a Force 6 gale the first night I camped in Durness though - which was nice. You may indeed be so bold, and you're bang on on both counts - funny that I didn't realise it was THAT bay I was riding past. My shot was taken from exactly the same place as yours by the look of it. Anthrax or no anthrax - views are bloody lovely!
