Quickest way to wipe an old PC please

Whats the best way of wiping before chucking? Its for my fathers next door neighbour. I used to know all this stuff, but thankfully have a more interesting life now....

Stick on a pair of Marigolds,take a deep breath and attack it with a fresh bottle of Dettol.

Should get the worst off.

FDISK and FORMAT but data can still be recovered, cheapest is remove the hard disk and attack it with a large hammer...

Download boot & nuke, its a Linux utility you can run from a floppy or flash drive. Pop it in with the first boot device set to floppy and in two hours you'll have a low level cleaned hard drive

Back in ye olde days that's what the council I work for used to do. We'd pile em up at the refuse tip (about the spot where Arsenal have their main entrance to the Emirates Stadium now) and let them drive a bulldozer over the top of the pile. Any that looked recoverable had a pick mashed through the hard drives.

What a waste, but good fun though.
