Quickie: switched power

Quick(ish) question: started tinkering with electrics. Want to charge stuff like a phone while its stuffed in a top box or tail pack.

Looks like running one of these powerlet cables down to the tail end is a neat solution

Question is - I'd like it to be switched independently of the ignition. So do you see any problem with chopping the above cable and inserting a switch, e.g. down towards the tail end where it will be easily accessed?

shouldn't be a problem, as long as you weather proof the switch, I'd go for a double pole switch so when it's off theres absolutley no power to the end of the cable.
