I have just bought a new computer. Very pleased with it indeed. Gave old one to son. Generous Father that I am. It was getting a bit flakey and giving error messages.
When putting in the wireless network card for him I noticed the fan on the case was not moving. I thought it might be triggered by a thermostat. Ie when computer gets hot it kicks in. Noticed that there were no error messages now on the old computer when side off the tower case.
Replaced fan. Cleared out three years of dust and fluff. Cost about £2.50. Old computer runs as sweet as a nut.
The expensive bit is the new computer which cost over £800 and would not have been bought if I had replaced the fan.
