Good spot. See the Trophy version doesn't have that arrangement, So I guess some fixing into those lugs and rear footpegs, for a pannier frame,is the way to go?have a look at the back of the triple black, I guess the round thing is the central locking mechanism
That's Ok, but a low chassis as on the 1250 doesn't reduce the travel on the suspension. Dropping the suspension, then fitting luggage & pillion may 'bottom out' the job. That's what they say and there are low and high seat options to suit

Yes, see wot you mean.....very odd BMW not doing it. Dealer confirmed they have no info.think so
I believe the pannier brackets are part of the touring pack as they were with the outgoing model, although I’ve never seen a GS without the pannier fixings
It looks like there are 2 bolts holding on the pannier hangers, the rear foot peg hangers are also bolted on, touratech etc will surely use them to fix the frames as they did before, they didn’t actually hook into to the ”eyes” like varios
It's a £500 option. That's heighest. It discriminates agnst shortarsed people like me.The website states that the dynamic lowering suspension removes the need for a low suspension model.
I'm a tallarse with short legs but have some Elton John Pingball Wizard boots. It's a £500 option. That's heighest. It discriminates agnst shortarsed people like me.
So, it's "I'm all right Jack", then?? Cuh!I'm a tallarse with short legs but have some Elton John Pingball Wizard boots.
I think the adaptive suspension only drops at slow to stop speeds, otherwise as normal...I thinkThat's Ok, but a low chassis as on the 1250 doesn't reduce the travel on the suspension. Dropping the suspension, then fitting luggage & pillion may 'bottom out' the job.
Test ride required therefore.
That’s helpful thanksI think the adaptive suspension only drops at slow to stop speeds, otherwise as normal...I think

DSA moves electronic suspension on to the next level by not only offering the ability to adjust front and rear damping in real time, but now also being able to change spring rate too. We’ve covered the system in detail before, so for more information on how it works, have a read here.
The short version is that the suspension can now automatically adapt to offer a better ride across a wider range of use cases, from sporty solo riding, to fully loaded two-up cruising.
And, speaking of short versions, on top of the optional DSA is the option to have BMW’s new adaptive ride height control system. This can automatically reduce the seat height of the R 1300 GS by 30mm (dropping it from 850mm to 820mm) at slow speeds by quickly removing preload from both shocks, helping a shorter rider to put their feet down more confidently. As the bike speeds up again, a pump quickly adds the correct amount of preload, lifting the bike back up to its correct height, improving its centre of gravity, dynamics and ground clearance. Again, more details on how this works can be found at the link above.

Maybe someone knows more
......how long before we get the first post from a short arse who has fallen off at a set of traffic lights because their automatic ride height has malfunctionedFrom watching the BMW Q&A video, seems the bike drops below 25kmh by 30mm from its seat height of 850mm and then back up when you get back over 25kmh....very quickly allegedly
I can't see how the pannier frames attach as the subframe is cast aluminium.....but that's the challenge I guess

... or ejector-seated off the back because it recovered too fast? Or goes into up-down-up-down mode at the traffic lights, like one of those pimped up Mexican cars. A malfunction in that system would truly be the gift that keeps giving.......how long before we get the first post from a short arse who has fallen off at a set of traffic lights because their automatic ride height has malfunctioned![]()
