Reliving bike trips whilst sat at my desk....
Tried starting the bike today at my mates garage.

Connected the knackered battery to the slave battery: everything worked (lights, horn etc), except the fuel pump did not prime as it does on my 1150, and absolutely nothing happened when we pressed the starter button: zip.

It was in neutral...

Any easy/typical things to look for? Or is it a full loom review...?

The 1100 ...

... will ONLY start on the centre stand or with you sitting on it, with the side stand raised. You can bypass the side stand switch, but most people don't bother :nenau

Ok fair enough. Thanks for the clarification and apologies to FBF for my sceptiscism and lack of faith!!

A bit odd, by my standards, but if that's the way, that's the way.

Question is, once its started, can the side stand be lowered without cutting it out then?

Side stand issue...

Warthog :rob I know what you think I use too as well. If you sit beside your GS you will notice the Dangerous Forward Facing of the side stand when it is down? I wouldn't want to ride that bike and leave the Stand down. Also I actually turn my engine off when Parking by putting the Sidestand down. G'day, BIGJim Tasmania.:thumb
