Ha ha Mr Steptoe. I suspect the OP may have a non "A" bike and wants to know how to make a link pipe. But here again I may be completely wrong. :)

Correct, would it therefore be possible to post a photo of the line on a GSA for me to get a better idea, I had gathered that I needed a fuel pipe Mr Steptoe.........
 
Join one side of the tank to the other, through the gap... With a piece of the above. If you are rich add a quick release connector.

No - add two - one 90deg QD per side. Makes removing and replacing the tank really simple - the connecting line just stays on the bike... :thumb2
 
Then just a small matter of getting two short bits of steel tube welded into the tank. Ash, an image of the underside of the tank would help:)
